Help Protect California Communities from the Fossil Fuel Industry!

Nearly 5.5 million Californians live within one mile of a polluting oil or gas well. And these communities already face an increased risk of asthma, premature births, high-risk pregnancies, cancer, and other health problems.

And the health impacts of the oil industry's air pollution — including aggravated heart and lung disease and potential worsening of severe complications from COVID-19 — fall disproportionately on communities of color and low-income communities in California.

This disparity has always been unacceptable, but it is doubly so now, in the middle of a pandemic that is hitting California's most vulnerable residents and communities of color the hardest. It's time for us to do better.

Thankfully, the California State Senate is considering a critical bill — AB 345 — that would require state regulators to keep oil and gas production facilities away from homes, schools, day care centers, hospitals, and other sensitive areas.

Oil and gas operations don't belong near our homes, hospitals, and schools — tell your state senator to support AB 345!
