BIG NEWS: Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer just took bold and ambitious action to fight climate change.
The Governor issued an executive order that sets a goal of dramatically cutting carbon pollution and becoming carbon-neutral by 2050 across all sectors of the state’s economy, including electric power, transportation, buildings, industry, and agriculture.
But we must ensure that the state commits to cutting carbon pollution in a way that prioritizes the health and wellbeing of Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities, which are weathering the cumulative impacts of pollution and climate disruptions.
Thank Governor Whitmer for stepping up on climate — and call on her to center communities in developing EQUITABLE solutions to reduce dangerous carbon pollution, protect public health, and address environmental injustice.
