The San Diego City Council is considering an important new ordinance that will cut harmful air pollution, invest in underserved communities, and make it easier, safer, and healthier for people to walk, bike, and spend time outside.
San Diego’s “Mobility Choices” ordinance will require developers to create better walking and biking conditions around new buildings and in the areas where we need them most.
This includes supporting improvements like wide sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks, electric bike charging stations, and lighting on public walkways.
And at least 50 percent of new infrastructure improvements will benefit underserved, low-income communities of color, making San Diego a more equitable city.
This policy will make streets safer and give San Diegans more ways to get around, promoting climate-friendly transportation and a healthier, more active lifestyle.
