The Biden administration is pushing bold climate action in the U.S. — but the country has given over $4 billion per year to fossil fuel projects around the world, and President Biden has yet to address this problem.

By promoting fossil fuel projects overseas, the U.S. is blocking international clean energy development, making it MUCH harder for countries to reduce their carbon footprints, transition away from fossil fuels, expand their clean energy economies, and reach their climate goals.

We MUST stop subsidizing fossil fuel companies at the expense of our climate.

Dear administration officials and Congress:

Thank you for everything you've done to push for climate action and clean energy policies here in the U.S. But so far, our international energy policies do not align with our country's domestic climate action goals.

The U.S. has given an average of over $4 billion per year to international fossil fuel projects -- reaching as much as $10 billion some years. These investments in dirty fossil fuels abroad are blocking clean energy development overseas, making it MUCH harder for countries to reduce their carbon footprints, transition away from fossil fuels, expand their clean energy economies, and reach their climate goals.

Backing these projects is also worsening our climate change crisis and impeding the global push for net-zero emissions no later than 2050 -- and it flies in the face of much of the climate progress we're making here at home.

Please align your international climate policies to your commitment to climate action here at home by withdrawing U.S. funding for international fossil fuel development projects.
