The dangerous Keystone XL tar sands pipeline is finally dead. This is a HUGE victory for NRDC, the environmental justice movement, and our allies in Indigenous and other local communities who have been fighting back against KXL for over 12 years.
But before leaving office, former-President Trump issued key permits to push ahead with numerous other climate-busting oil and gas pipelines across the U.S.

The dangerous Keystone XL Tar Sands pipeline is finally dead. TC Energy, the company behind KXL, has officially cancelled the project after the Biden administration revoked key permits that were rushed through under former-President Trump.
This is a HUGE victory for our environment and our climate, and for Indigenous and other local communities who have fought back against KXL for over 12 years.
But before leaving office, Trump pushed through permits for numerous other climate-busting oil and gas pipelines across the U.S. He greenlit the Line 3 and Dakota Access Oil Pipelines that would violate Indigenous treaty rights and threaten important water bodies in the Midwest, the Mountain Valley gas pipeline that would cross some of the steepest slopes in Appalachia and has already led to considerable ecological harm in West Virginia and Virginia, and the PennEast and Mariner East pipelines in Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
All of these disastrous fossil fuel pipelines will wreak havoc on our land, water, and communities — and derail our path towards a 100% clean energy future.
