We need to protect our planet and our climate. Across the country and around the world, climate impacts are getting worse. Record-shattering high temperatures, raging wildfires, and devastating flooding are the story of the summer.
In a major clean energy comeback, Senate Democrats reached agreement on critical budget legislation that will invest billions of dollars to expand clean energy, electric vehicles, and climate justice. This bill, which will enable us to cut emissions by 40% by 2030, is far from perfect, and includes some handouts to the fossil fuel industry. But it’s without a doubt a major, critical step in helping reach our climate goals, avert the worst impacts of this crisis, and move toward the clean energy future we all deserve.
Unfortunately anti-environment members of Congress and their fossil fuel allies are hell-bent on derailing this bill for the sake of oil industry profits. And if Congress and the White House do not take strong, immediate action to limit climate-wrecking pollution from fossil fuels, the consequences will be profound — at home and abroad.
We must fight back. Push Congress and the White House to follow through on its obligation to support communities and protect us from worsening climate change by passing this landmark climate legislation.
I’m counting on you to tackle climate change
