Tell USPS to go 100% Electric

After fighting for months and filing a joint lawsuit with our allies, our advocacy made USPS redress its flawed, environmentally indefensible, and likely illegal plan to purchase a new fleet of gas-guzzling delivery trucks — and pushed them to instead take a more accurate look at purchasing climate- and wallet-friendly electric vehicles (EVs).

Now, USPS has committed to purchasing at least 40% EVs in their new fleet. This change is a step in the right direction, but it’s still not nearly enough.

To save money, fight climate change, and protect our health, the Postal Service should go much further and fully electrify its fleet while ensuring the jobs provided by this contract are high-quality.

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) was on the verge of making a terrible mistake and purchasing a new fleet of mostly gas-guzzling delivery trucks — which would have locked us into billions of pounds of greenhouse gas emissions for decades and generated more pollution in communities already burdened by dirty air.

But after submitting hundreds of thousands of public comments and filing a joint lawsuit with our allies, our advocacy made USPS redress its flawed, environmentally indefensible, and likely illegal plan. Now, USPS has announced plans to purchase at least 40% EVs in their new fleet. This change is a step in the right direction, but it’s also not nearly enough.

We’re running out of time to stop the climate crisis, and President Biden has directed the federal government to transition to 100% zero-emissions vehicles by 2035. USPS operates THE largest government fleet of vehicles in the U.S. and we MUST get them to do their part to fight the climate crisis and create the high-quality jobs of the future.

Submit an urgent public comment to USPS thanking them for their progress and imploring them to do even more by investing in a 100% EV fleet.
