This summer’s off-the-charts heat, historic drought, and raging wildfires in the American West are reminders that the effects of human-caused climate change are here and disrupting our lives. The only question for today’s policymakers is whether we will doom our descendants to an even worse fate or take action now to create a better future.
President Biden’s plans to build back better from the pandemic represent a bold vision for change—a future in which America has chosen a path to a clean energy economy that fights the climate crisis, creates good-paying jobs, reduces harmful pollution, and addresses the environmental injustice faced by so many people in frontline communities, which are disproportionately inhabited by people of color.
The NRDC Action Fund has launched our largest-ever advocacy and lobbying campaign to enact the president’s plans into law, and we’re focusing on four key priorities: electrifying transportation
; eliminating climate-wrecking emissions from abandoned oil and gas wells; lowering emissions from power-generating plants; and replacing aging water pipes
across the country that are poisoning kids with lead.
This opportunity cannot be wasted. These provisions must make it into the series of bills now under consideration that are intended to answer President Biden’s calls for job creation and economic growth coupled with bold climate action and sustainable infrastructure.
Throughout the summer, we’re activating NRDC Action Fund members like you—asking you and your family and friends to lobby your senators and representatives on Capitol Hill to pass the president’s Build Back Better agenda.
