Take the Pledge: Commit to Personal Climate Action in 2020!

Rising sea levels. Historic storms. Destructive fires and floods. Severe drought. The effects of climate change are already threatening our health, our communities, our economy, our planet, and our future.

But what can you do about it? A lot actually — personal action is increasingly important in creating movements of change and in tackling some of the most pressing issues of our time, including climate change.

  • I pledge to tackle food waste by eating leftovers, freezing extras, and only buying what I know I’ll eat.
  • I pledge to pump my tires: If Americans changed their tires regularly and kept them properly inflated, we could save 1.2 billion gallons of gas each year.
  • I pledge to reduce my energy use by only buying energy efficient appliances and unplugging devices I rarely use.
  • I pledge to use LED lightbulbs: If every American household replaced just one standard bulb with an LED, we’d save 2 million metric tons of C02 pollution in just 10 years.
  • I pledge to take shorter showers and be more conscious of my everyday water use.
  • I pledge to buy local and organic produce and grass-fed and organic meat, and decrease my overall meat intake, as best I can.
  • I pledge to cut single-use plastic items like cups, straws, bottles, and bags out of my daily routine.
  • I pledge to talk to my friends and family about climate change and encourage them to join me in combating the climate crisis.
  • I pledge to speak up and demand action from policymakers and corporations on climate change.
